Ficep’s Gemini Laser system wins industry award
Ficep UK’s new Gemini Laser system has been named winner of the Rural and Industrial Design and Building Association (RIDBA) ‘New Product or Service’ award, recognising its breakthrough in steel processing technology.
The annual RIDBA Awards celebrate the best projects and products across agricultural, industrial and commercial building sectors, bringing together contractors, designers and manufacturers from across the UK.
The Gemini Laser combines high-powered fibre laser cutting, precision machining and robotic automation in a single system, eliminating the need for multiple machines. It can carry out laser cutting, bevelling, drilling, tapping, milling and marking operations seamlessly on plates of thicknesses up to 60mm.
By removing manual intervention between operations, the Gemini Laser significantly reduces material handling, shortens turnaround times and delivers higher levels of accuracy and consistency compared to traditional multi-machine setups. This allows processors to overcome long-standing fabrication challenges around productivity, quality and efficiency - particularly in the production of complex, high precision components.
RIDBA represents the UK’s modern and industrial buildings sector, which relies heavily on precision-fabricated steel for applications such as structural frameworks, industrial sheds and agricultural facilities. The association’s recognition highlights the Gemini Laser’s role in driving innovation across these industries.
Chris Berriman, Ficep UK sales director says: “We are delighted to receive this award against some fierce competition. The award reinforces what we have been sharing with the market - the Gemini Laser is a genuine game-changer for steel processors. We are proud to have developed the industry’s first complete machining centre with integrated laser cutting.”
